The court's Balance Sheet (Word and Excel)

Export in the court's layout, or import a balance sheet someone has already prepared.

The Court balance sheet card on the Balance sheet tab produces the balance sheet in the layout of the court's Balance Sheet form. It's part of the Family law module.

The Court balance sheet card

Exporting

  1. Choose whether our client is the Applicant or the Respondent, add the court file number if you have it, and choose Save.
  2. Choose Download Word or Download Excel.

The document has the court's sections (Assets, Liabilities, Superannuation and Financial Resources), with Ownership, Description, Applicant's value and Respondent's value columns. Items are numbered so notes can refer to them.

As the court's form asks, only our client's values are filled in, in their own column. The other column is for the other party's values. Anything without a value shows as N.K (not known), with a note saying disclosure or a valuation is needed. In Excel, the totals are live formulas.

Importing an existing balance sheet

If a balance sheet has already been prepared in the court's layout (the court's form, a Word document or a spreadsheet with the same columns):

  1. Choose Import an existing balance sheet, pick the file, and choose Preview.
  2. Check the items found. Untick any you don't want. Items marked N.K can't be added until their value is known.
  3. Choose Add ... lines to the balance sheet.

Imported items are added as lawyer-entered lines. Our client's value is used where there is one, otherwise the other party's (the preview says which). Check for items already on the balance sheet from accepted documents, so nothing is counted twice.
