Parenting plans and draft orders

Download a proposal as a parenting plan or draft parenting orders in Word, using your firm's wording.

When your firm has parenting documents switched on, each saved proposal on the Parenting tab has two downloads under Documents:

  • Parenting plan (Word): a plain-language plan in the parents' own voice, with signature and date lines for both parents.
  • Draft orders (Word): draft parenting orders by consent, with definitions, decision-making, where the children live and spend time, changeovers, school holidays, special occasions, communication and general orders.

The schedule is written from the proposal, for example "from Friday of week 2 (after school, or 3.00 pm if it is not a school day) until Sunday of week 2 (5.00 pm)", along with the holiday and special-day rules. Save any changes first: only saved proposals can be downloaded.

Both documents start with a draft for a lawyer to review notice. They are a starting point for you to check and adapt, not a finished document to file or give to the parties.

Your firm's wording

A firm admin can change the standard wording in Settings, then Parenting:

  • the changeover times used in the schedule (weekday start and end, and the weekend time)
  • the notice at the top of each document
  • the orders around the schedule: decision-making, communication, the general orders (one per line) and which arrangement applies when they overlap
  • the parenting plan paragraphs: the introduction, decisions, communication and review

Use {{client}}, {{other}} and {{children}} in your wording. In orders they become "the mother" or "the father" (or the parent's name) and "the children" or "the child". Use the standard wording puts a clause back to the default.

Downloads are recorded in Activity.
